The 2000 GMC Sierra SL was a conventional 4-door model that was launched by GMC Sierra in the year 2000. It was a half-ton full-size pickup, supplied in SLE, SL, and SLT trim levels.

The 2000 GMC Sierra SL was offered in extended and regular-cab models with 8.1- or 6.5-feet Wideside cargo couch. The Wideside bed was wrapped with a tonneau sheet that was factory-designed. The interior had also a flare-fender Sportside bed that was about 6.5-feet long.

Now, let us move on to the performance of engine used by the 2000 GMC Sierra SL. The 4.3-liter V6 was the basic engine, which had the powerful companions like the V8s of 5,3 and 4.8 liters capacities.

Both V8 engines churned out 15 more hp than the base model. The engines carried both automatic and manual transmissions along with a “Tow/Haul” mode that reduced shifting under huge loads.

The towing capacity of the 2000 GMC Sierra SL was also increased by 700 pounds that made it a total of 11,200 pounds. An optional Autotrac 4-wheel drive could be engaged on dry path, automatically engaged the front axle whenever rear-wheel slip was detected. It had locked-in 4WD low and high ranges too.

It also had standard antilock four-wheel disk brakes. The performance 2000 GMC Sierra SL was comparable to that of the Chevy Silverado.
