The 2000 GMC Sierra was a four-door extended-cab version, which became a hot pick for 2000 model year. It was a half-ton full-size pickup manufactured in 3 trim levels – the SLE, SL, and top-line SLT.
Just like Chevrolet Silverado, it was also offered in extended and crew cabs with 8.1- and 6.5-feet long Wideside cargo beds, which had factory-made tonneau covers.
Fenders and Beds
One more bed that was had 6.5-feet flare-fender called Sportside bed was also available on the 2000 GMC Sierra. The rear-side door of driver had a price tag of about $330 (available optionally), and complemented a conventional rear door at passenger side. The door at driver side was standard at middle of the year along with matching $330 raise in the price of extended-cab. These doors were hinged at back side and could not open freely of the front side doors.
Engine and Transmission
The 2000 GMC Sierra was rolled over with a 4.3-liter V6 and optional 5.3 as well as 4.8-liter V8 engines. The V8 engines delivered 15 hp extra with both physical and automatic transmissions.
But, later it was introduced with an additional “Tow/Haul” mode, which degrades shifting under huge loads. The GMC sierra came with standard all-wheel drive and an optional 4WD.
