The 2009 GMC Sierra 2500HD has a standard 6.0-liter Vortec V8 engine that generates 373 pound-feet of torque and 353 horsepower, which is seen on all the trims, while the optional 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine delivers slightly higher output. This is connected to a standard Allison six-speed automatic transmission to tow, and haul large loads. The burly Duramax 6.6-liter turbo diesel V8 engine produces 660 lb-ft of torque and 365 hp of power.
